Magnesium salts: which shall be used?

Sali di magnesio: quali utilizzare?

Did you know...

The magnesium salts currently permitted in supplements from UE according to the reg. 1925/2006 are : acetate of magnesium, magnesium carbonate, magnesium chloride, magnesium salts of nitric acid, magnesium gluconate, magnesium glycerophosphate, magnesium salts of the orthophosphoric acid, lactate of magnesium, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide, magnesium sulfate.

Which ones to choose?

Taken into consideration that the main actions of magnesium are:

  • parasympathetic mimetic muscle relaxant antidepressant effect
  • antiacid effect
  • laxative effect

Besides, the selection criteria of the salt must be based on:

  • safe use
  • user types
  • efficiency
  • pharmaceutical form
  • cost

That's why the choice of magnesium carbonate seems to be one of the possible best one:

  • it has the highest bioavailibility dissociating itself at gastric level
  • it has a mild antiacid effect in relation to dosage, and it is useful with dyspepsias
  • it is particularly suitable in the pharmaceutical form of tablets
  • it is a completely natural salt fundamental constituent of rocks, not of synthesis (it contributes to the so called hardness of drinking water, that white powder which remains on the pot sides after water boiling).

Volchem proposes Magnesite, pack with tablets of magnesium carbonate.
